veterans day 2025

Cotulla ISD held its annual Veterans Day program to honor the brave men and women who have served our country. The event brought together students, staff, and community members to celebrate and show appreciation for our Veterans.

Ramirez Burks Elementary students gave performances of “This Land Is Your Land” and “America the Beautiful.” The students were guided by their teachers Mrs. Stacy Ayala, Ms. Yajaira Gauna, Ms. Valerie Rodriguez, and Ms. Araceli Maldonado, led by Music Aide, Ms. Julie Martinez.

A special thank you goes to our Mighty Cowboy Band for their outstanding performances and to the members of the National Honor Society and the National Junior Honor Society for their hospitality and participation as speakers. Their efforts helped make our guests feel welcomed and appreciated.

The program also featured two video tributes created by our production team: Brandyn Ramirez, Jose R. Gonzalez, Victoriana Perez, and Rolando Benavidez. Interviews were conducted by Ricardo Ruiz and Faith Abrego and included the following Veterans:

  • William “Bill” Franklin – United States Navy

  • Johnny Gomez – United States Army

  • Richard Maldonado – United States Marines

  • Sonia Rodriguez-Barbour – United States Army

We also thank our Maintenance and Custodial Staff, Child Nutrition Department and Technology Department for their hard work and support in helping make this event possible.

Cotulla ISD extends its sincere gratitude to all who have served our nation. Thank you for your service, your sacrifices, and for sharing your stories with us. It is an honor to learn from you and to keep your legacy alive for future generations!
