Cotulla ISD is excited to announce the soft launch of Cotulla Early College High School, opening in Fall 2026. This new program is supported through the Texas Education Agency and the Early College High School Blueprint, and is funded in part by a state planning grant that helps districts expand access to college opportunities for students.

CECHS will give Cotulla students the chance to earn up to 60 hours of college credit and an Associate Degree at no cost to families. The program is built to support first-generation college students and historically underserved populations by providing strong academic pathways, tutoring, leadership development, and college and career planning.

Today, we are also unveiling the official CECHS logo. At the center is the historic bucking horse and cowboy created by longtime Cotulla ISD teacher and artist Mr. Wayne Franklin. This design has been part of our community for decades and now represents the next chapter of Cotulla ISD. The two stars honor Encinal, Cotulla, and the greater La Salle County community that stands behind our students.

The official CECHS webpage is now live on the Cotulla High School website. Families will be able to explore program details, degree pathways, expectations, and upcoming opportunities. If you have a current 8th grader, this site will help you begin considering whether CECHS is the right path for your student.

In the weeks ahead, Cotulla ISD will share more about the application process, selection timeline, and required parent and student meetings as we begin recruitment for our first CECHS freshman class.

Cotulla Early College High School represents an important step in the future of our district. We look forward to building this new opportunity together for the students of La Salle County.
