On Thursday, August 6, our Cotulla Cowgirls & Cowboys officially opened the 2026 Cross Country season at the Tilden McMullen Cross Country Relays!

We are extremely proud of the effort and determination our athletes displayed in their first competition of the season. They have been putting in the miles, showing up, and putting in the work, and we were excited to finally see them get out on the course and compete!

This meet featured a unique relay format, with two athletes teaming up and alternating legs until each runner completed a total of two miles.

COWGIRLS:

Leading the way for our Cowgirls was the duo of Jazlynn Olivas and Chloe Garcia.

Trailing close behind were Destiny Garcia and Destiny Freeman, followed by Jackie Alba and Addison Alvarado to close out the Cowgirls' side.

COWBOYS:

Leading the way for our Cowboys were Emmanuel Lopez and Jarek Gonzalez.

Following close behind were the teams of Saul Avina/Dominica Garcia and Jose Vargas/Aiden Villarreal.

Closing out the Cowboys' side were Armando Garza and Enrique Garcia.

GRIT. TOUGHNESS. EFFORT.

Our athletes competed at 5:00 PM in the South Texas heat with little to no wind, and they never backed down. For our first meet of the season, we could not be prouder of the way they represented Cotulla and competed for one another.

This is only the beginning. We are looking forward to a great season with a challenging schedule ahead. Our goal is to continue raising the standard of Cotulla Cross Country and take this program to new heights.

Our Cowgirls & Cowboys will be back on the course Friday, August 21, in San Antonio as they compete under the lights at Friday Night Lights!
