A team of 12 Cotulla Cowboy powerlifters competed at the Natalia Last Qualifying Powerlifting Meet, where more than 60 lifters from various schools battled for final qualifying spots. The Cowboys powered through and earned an impressive 2nd Place Team Finish! 👏🏆

Throughout the regular season, the Cowboys competed in four meets and brought home three 1st Place Team titles, a testament to the standard they’ve built and the work they’ve put in week after week. All season long, our Cowboys have shown discipline and determination for strength by attacking the barbell, overcoming challenges, and representing Cotulla with pride.

The coaching staff is incredibly proud of the commitment and competitive spirit these young men have demonstrated throughout the season.

Congratulations to all of our Cowboys as they close out the regular season. We now await Regional qualifying results and look forward to what’s next! 💪

Cotulla High School is proud to announce that Zuriana Cruz and Sapphira Navejar have been accepted to participate in the prestigious American Legion Auxiliary Texas Bluebonnet Girls State!
This incredible honor recognizes outstanding leadership, academic excellence, and commitment to service. Zuriana and Sapphira were nominated by CHS and are proudly sponsored by American Legion Reuben Willson Post #409. They will attend this transformative leadership experience at Texas Lutheran University from June 14–20, 2026.
⭐ Sapphira Navejar
Sapphira is a dedicated member of the Mighty Cowboy Band, National Honor Society, UIL One Act Play, Student Council, and serves as Art Club Vice-President. She is also a UT GeoFORCE participant and a dual enrollment student at Southwest Texas College in Uvalde, Texas. Sapphira is the daughter of Jesus Navejar and Veronica Martinez.
⭐ Zuriana Cruz
Zuriana is actively involved in Mighty Cowboy Band, National Honor Society, Student Council, UIL One Act Play, UIL Academics, and serves as a Student Athletic Trainer. She is also a UT GeoFORCE participant, manager for the Cowboys Baseball Team and Cowgirls Softball Team, and a dual enrollment student at Southwest Texas College in Uvalde, Texas. She will graduate in May 2027 with her Patient Care Technician certification. Zuriana is the daughter of Jacinta Cruz.

Raider Ready: Alejandro Coronado Magana Headed to Texas Tech University! ⚫🔴

Congratulations to Cotulla High School Senior Alejandro Coronado Magana on his admission to Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas for Fall 2026! Alejandro will major in Mechanical Engineering as he begins his journey in Raiderland.

A true leader and scholar, Alejandro is a 4-year member of the Mighty Cowboy Band, serving as MCB Drum Major, and a dedicated 4-year member of Mariachi Cotuleño. His leadership extends beyond music as the National Honor Society Parliamentarian, an active Student Council member, FFA member, and a UIL Academics competitor.

Alejandro’s hard work in the classroom has truly set him apart. Through dual enrollment with Southwest Texas College in Uvalde, Texas, he will graduate with at least 18 academic college semester hours and 24 technical college hours, along with earning his Welding Certification in May 2026.

Congratulations to CHS Junior and Cotulla FFA member Ryan Sanchez who competed at the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo Calf Scramble this past weekend. He won a $2,000 certificate that can be used to purchase a livestock project for the upcoming year. He was also the 1st scrambler to catch a calf in his show which earned him a spot in the Calf Scramble Finals for another chance to win! Best of luck in the finals!

From CHS to UIW — Wyatt Almendarez is Headed to San Antonio! ✨🎓

Congratulations to Cotulla High School Senior Wyatt Almendarez on his acceptance to the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas for Fall 2026! Wyatt plans to major in Fashion Design and Marketing, where he will combine creativity and business to pursue his passion in the fashion industry.

Wyatt is currently a dual enrollment student at Southwest Texas College, majoring as a Patient Care Technician. He will graduate in May 2026 earning his Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) and Electrocardiogram (EKG) certifications.

In addition to his academic success, Wyatt is an active member of the Cotulla High School Student Council and works as a lifeguard at the La Salle County Martinez Sports Complex.
