CHS Seniors Nivea Gonzalez and Brandon J. Rodriguez receive full ride scholarships to Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas!
 
Congratulations to Nivea Gonzalez and Brandon Rodriguez, Cotulla High School Seniors, as they are the recipients of the Texas Leadership Scholars Program.  As Texas Leadership Scholars, Nivea and Brandon will both have 100% of their tuition, fees, room, and board covered at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, for up to 4 years.  The Texas Leadership Scholars Program was founded in 2022 by eighteen member institutions (4 year universities) to assist Texas high school graduates continue their education at a Texas university.
 
Nivea and Brandon will be provided peer mentoring, job shadowing, leadership seminars, on-campus research opportunities, resume workshops, summer internships, and study abroad experiences.  
 
The Texas Leadership Scholars Program Scholarship is $32,374 per year for a total of $129,496.  Nivea and Brandon also are the Texas A&M University Regents' Scholarship recipients.  The TAMU Regents' scholarship is $6,000 per year for a total of $24,000.  Nivea and Brandon will both receive scholarships totaling $153,496. 
 
Nivea Gonzalez is the daughter of Norberto Gonzalez III and Melissa Ramirez.  Nivea is a Southwest Texas Junior College dual-credit academic with 36 academic semester hours and a Patient Care Technician student with 32 technical semester hours. Nivea has certifications in CNA, EKG-Tech, and OSHA.  She will receive her PCT certification at the SWTJC graduation ceremony on May 13, 2023.  Nivea is the Cotulla FFA Sentinel, National Honor Society Parliamentarian, Class of 2023 Parliamentarian, UIL District Academic Copy Editing competitor, UIL District Academic Spelling and Vocabulary competitor, Mighty Cowboy Band Drumline Captain, National Hispanic Institute Summer Leadership Alumni, Student Council Member, and active participant in the LaSalle County Junior Livestock Show.
 
Brandon Rodriguez is the son of Victoria Aldaco.  Brandon is a Southwest Texas Junior College dual-credit academic with 36 academic semester hours and a Patient Care Technician student with 32 technical semester hours. Brandon has certifications in CNA, EKG-Tech, and OSHA.  He will receive his PCT certification at the SWTJC graduation ceremony on May 13, 2023.  Brandon is the Cotulla FFA President, National Honor Society Treasurer, Class of 2023 Secretary, UIL District Academic competitor, Mighty Cowboy Band Member, Student Council Member, and active participant in the LaSalle County Junior Livestock Show.
